For domestic property, we would recommend a basic CCTV system consisting of between one and  four cameras with the images being stored locally using the DVR (Digital Video Recorder).

 

Cameras can be configured to record continuously or when motion is detected and some systems can also send a message to alert the customer when a camera has detected any movement (A phone line or mobile phone network signal is required).

 

If there is internet access at the property then you also have the option of monitoring your

CCTV's live and recorded footage remotely from anywhere in the world using a computer or 3G phone (Smart phone).

 

We would recommend that all CCTV systems are installed along with a UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) so that the system will still operate during a power cut (It is not unusual for

criminals to pull the fuses at the outside meter panel).

 

For commercial properties there are also cameras with a motorised tilt, swivel and zoom options available where necessary but for the smaller commercial properties a domestic system would in most cases be more suitable.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Many consumers are turning to wireless security cameras for home surveillance. Wireless cameras do not require a video cable for video/audio transmission, simply a cable for power. Wireless cameras are also easy and inexpensive to install. Previous generations of wireless security cameras relied on analogue  technology; modern wireless cameras use digital technology which delivers crisper audio, sharper video, and a secure and interference-free signal.

 

 

 

 

A growing branch in CCTV is internet protocol cameras (IP cameras). IP cameras  use the internet protocol used by most Local Area Networks  (LANs) to transmit video across data networks in digital form. IP can optionally be transmitted across the public internet, allowing users to view their cameras through any internet connection available through a computer or a 3G  phone. For professional or public infrastructure security applications, IP video is restricted to within a private network  or can be recorded onto a remote server.

Camera technology has come a very long way and today's covert cameras are able to produce remarkably good images . They can easily be hidden from view or they can be disguised as a rock,  a light, a sensor or a doorbell etc.
